The Continental Party
Reclaiming Our Heritage
God   Country   Liberty

The Constitution and The Bill of Rights were ratified in 1787  .  These documents were the foundations for the greatest society ever instituted among men.  America grew and prospered at levels unattained by any other system of government or country before or since.

With such incredible success, why change that which was obviously working very well?   All that is necessary for man’s desire for power and control to come forward is an opportunity.  The bank panics of the early 20th century led to the establishment of the “Fed.”  The Federalist Reserve Act passed Congress in late 1913 on a mostly partisan basis with most all Democrats in support and most Republicans against it.  Sound like the current news?

Some economists including Milton Friedman, Ben Bernanke, Robert Latham Owen and Murry Rothband believe the Federal Reserve System helped to cause the Great Depression.  Others believe it only deepened and prolonged it.   No one believes that the Fed was innocent of any involvement- or that the Fed helped end it.

Milton Friedman (1912-2006), a prominent figure within the
Chicago School, argued that the Federal Reserve System caused the Great Depression by contracting
the money supply at the very  moment that markets needed liquidity.   In an interview with Peter Jawarski (The Journal, Queens University, March 15, 2002-Issue 37, Volume 129)  Friedman said that ideally he would “prefer to abolish the Federal Reserve System altogether rather than try to reform it, because it was a flawed system in the first place.”  He also said he would like to “abolish the Federal Reserve and replace it with a computer,” meaning that it would be a mechanical system that would keep the quantity of money going up at a steady rate and that “leaving monetary and banking arrangements to the market would have produced a more satisfactory outcome than was actually achieved through government involvement.

As bad as the economic havoc caused by the Federal Reserve has been over the last century, the true damage  to the Great American Experiment has been the Myth of Central Planning and Control that it helped create.   It helped spawn the belief that the Federal Government is capable of creating a utopian society.  The lie that is told is that with proper decision making the pain and risks in life can be eliminated.

The Revolution toward Socialism began in earnest in 1932 with the election of Franklin D. Roosevelt. Volumes have been written about FDR.  It is beyond the scope of this web site to add anything new to the debate.   In his New York Times best-selling book Liberty and Tyranny, Mark Levin quotes two insightful utterances by FDR.   “ While governor of New York, FDR warned against the tyranny of the Federal Government.  “Now to bring about government by oligarchy masquerading as democracy, it is fundamentally essential that practically all authority and control be centralized in our National Government.”   When he became the Federal Government, FDR said give me all the power and I will be the answer to all your problems.   He must be declared as the grandfather of the bloated bureaucracy we have today.   He also birthed future generations of “Governmentalists” who believed as he did that government is always the answer.  If given enough power, control, and revenue the Federal Government can create a heaven on earth for the citizens of America.

The second pronouncement was his Socialist Manifesto disguised as the “Second Bill of Rights.”

Levin unmasks Roosevelt’s true character and purpose:  But, alas, Roosevelt went on to become the very “mastermind” he had denounced earlier in his political career.  In his 1944 State of the Union address to Congress, Roosevelt declared, “this Republic had its beginning, and grew to its present strength, under the protection of certain inalienable rights-among them the right of free speech, free press, free worship, trial by jury, freedom from unreasonable searches and seizures.  They were our rights to life and liberty.”   But for Roosevelt, these rights were no longer enough.  He went on to propose a “Second Bill of Rights” based on “security and prosperity.”

“The right to a useful and remunerative job in the industries or shops or farms or mines of the Nation; to earn enough to provide adequate food and clothing and recreation; of every farmer to raise and sell his products at a return which will give him and his family a decent living;  of every businessman, large and small, to trade in an atmosphere of freedom  from unfair competition and domination by monopolies at home or abroad; of every family to a decent home; to adequate medical care and the opportunity to achieve and enjoy good heath; to adequate protection from the economic fears of old age, sickness, accident, and unemployment; to a good education. “

This is tyranny’s disguise.  These are not rights.  They are the Statist’s false promises of utopianism, which the Statist uses to justify all trespasses on  the individual’s private property.”

We have finally reached a critical mass where the Socialist takeover of our society has created a backlash or Counter-Revolution.  The ground swell to return to our roots is increasing daily.  The Federal Government that brought us sub-prime mortgages, the cave-in of the housing market, and the melt-down of the world economy, want to do more of the same.   The Washington Establishment has taken over General Motors, Chrysler, the Banking system, AIG, and wants national health care, energy control, and virtually every item on FDR’s wish list.  Can the nationalization of TV, radio, and the internet be on their agenda?

Join the Counter-Revolution!  The following are some of the things you can do:

1. Educate yourself-see recommended reading.

2. Call, write, e-mail your representatives in Washington D.C. and voice your displeasure.

3.  Vote members of President Obama’s rubber- stamp congress out of office in 2010.

4.  Join a third party.  We would love to have you. So would other parties.

5.Contribute to any organization that will slow the Federal Octopus from grasping more power.

6. Speak to everyone that will listen about this mess.

7.  Use your imagination and resources to create something unique to return America to being a Representative Republic.  Yes You Can.

8. Go to a tea party, rally or protest.

9.  Buy a copy of the Declaration of Independence, Constitution and Bill of Rights.  Read and become an expert.

10. Do something-do it for your children and grandchildren.  The Federal Government is burying them under a mound of debt.

In 1787, the Constitution was drafted and ratified.  It created a constitutional republic.  In the early 1900’s a revolution toward socialism was started by the politicians of the day.  Teddy Roosevelt started the Progressive Party and Woodrow Wilson openly distained the constitution.  Under Barrack Obama, the Progressive Revolution is reaching new heights.  Just as in 1773, a new Tea Party is starting a counter-revolution against the tyranny of Progressive Socialism.
